Former Manchester United full-back Patrice Evra has revealed that Liverpool were interested in signing him prior to his move to Old Trafford.
The France international signed for the Red Devils in 2006 and made over 270 appearances in the Premier League before departing in 2014 but he has explained how the Reds were eyeing a deal.
Prior to his switch to the Premier League, he was a key member of the Monaco side that won the Coupe de la Ligue and was a part of the side who were beaten Champions League finalists in 2004. He made the move to the English top flight for a reported fee of £5.5m.

Evra detailed his meeting with iconic United manager Sir Alex Ferguson in a private room at Charles de Gaulle Airport in France alongside his agent and former chief executive David Gill.
Speaking on the Vibe with Five podcast, the 41-year-old revealed how he turned down a move to Anfield for the Manchester-based outfit.
"Before [Manchester] United came, my agent said we have Liverpool, Inter Milan and United," he said. "I remember my agent was so excited saying: 'Patrice, it's Manchester United'.
"I only watched United because of Eric Cantona so this had a big influence. When I met Ferguson, you feel something special, his aura, if you do well for this man, you're going to win and achieve lots of things in my life and that was feeling."
