Romeo Beckham, son of Manchester United hero David, has joined Brentford’s B-team on loan for the rest of the season.
He arrives from Inter Miami CF’s development team, the United States franchise which is co-owned by his father. The 20-year-old has starred for the team, grabbing two goals and 10 assists during the inaugural season of the MLS NEXT Pro league, which has now concluded.
Beckham joins Brentford on a six-month loan that ends in June having already been training with the club’s reserve side on a regular basis. The winger had enjoyed a spell with Arsenal’s academy up alongside older brother Brooklyn until 2014 and only returned to football in September 2021.

Speaking upon the announcement of his temporary switch across the pond, Beckham said: “I’m very proud and very happy to be here. I came here at the start to keep fit during the off season. The chance then came to come on loan here and I’ve never been so excited.
“It was a fun season [in the USA] and there were a lot of ups and downs but I’m excited to come here and see what I can do.” Commenting on training with the B-team ahead of the move, he added: "I’ve loved it. They’re such nice boys and have good energy.
“I love coming in every day seeing them and getting to train every day with them is fun. They are all very talented players, and they drive me to be even better in myself.
“A few of them give me some kicks and I give them back, but we all come into work hard to get better in ourselves and the coaches drive that.
“[Brentford B head coach Neil MacFarlane and assistant Sam Saunders] have helped me massively over the last couple of months and I’m excited to see what else they can help me with to really progress in football.
"If you look at Brentford as a club, it’s very positive and it’s a club that is on the rise very quickly. I’m very grateful to be here. I love how we have the opportunity to play at different levels, both abroad and here.
"We go across to play some men’s teams and it’s a good experience. [I want] to get the experience to play against men and get physically stronger and we’ll see how that can progress me.”
