Manchester United secured a huge three points on Sunday, beating Aston Villa to boost their chances of qualifying for the Champions League.

The mood around the club is high at the moment, and would only have been boosted by the news of a double fitness boost on matchday.

Both Mason Mount and Noussair Mazraoui had been considered doubts ahead of Villa’s visit to Old Trafford, but the pair were named to the bench. Neither played, but their returns to match fitness will be a weight off Michael Carrick’s shoulders.

And he will hope to have even more options at his disposal as United visit Bournemouth on Friday night.

With that said, here’s all the latest Manchester United injury news and potential return dates...

Lisandro Martinez

Lisandro Martinez has not appeared for United since he failed to make the squad for last month’s defeat of Everton.

He suffered a calf injury in the build-up to the match and is yet to recover, with Carrick initially predicting he would miss a couple of weeks.

The Red Devils’ interim manager has not issued an update since previewing the trip to face Newcastle earlier this month. Asked then if he could give a positive update on the player’s condition, he said: “Not particularly, really, no.”

Should the initial prognosis prove accurate, he should return to the pitch in the coming days.

Potential return date: March 20 vs Bournemouth (A)

Matthijs de Ligt

Matthijs de Ligt has not appeared for United since starting at Selhurst Park back in November.

He sustained a lower back injury in southeast London from which he is yet to recover.

As of the Newcastle match, he was yet to return to training, with Carrick explaining his injury required time to properly heal.

“It’s part of football unfortunately, so we’ll get him back when we can,” Carrick said in his latest update.

“It's just the nature of the issue really. It’s a difficult one to pin down a timeline. He’s definitely improving, so we're just working towards that really.”

Patrick Dorgu

Just as he hit form under Carrick, Patrick Dorgu was cruelly struck down with a severe hamstring injury.

He fell awkwardly while chasing a loose ball shortly after scoring in United’s defeat of Arsenal in January and immediately clutched at his thigh.

It was later reported that he would face around ten weeks on the sidelines, which Carrick confirmed, though he has not issued an update on the player’s condition recently.

Denmark national team coach Brian Reimer suggested last month that he could be fit for the March international break, but such a timeline seems unlikely as things stand.

Potential return date: April
