Manchester United injury update: Casemiro, Sergio Reguilon and Luke Shaw latest news and return dates

Manchester United hope to have two players back available this week as they face a crunch Champions League clash and the Manchester derby.

Raphael Varane was able to return in the win over Sheffield United, while both Casemiro and Sergio Reguilon are edging ever closer to joining the World Cup winner on the pitch.

Luke Shaw is further off a return whereas Lisandro Martinez won’t play again this calendar year.

Here is your latest update of Man Utd injuries and return dates...

Casemiro

An ankle injury picked up on Brazil duty - being forced off against Venezuela after 11 minutes - ruled Casemiro out of the upcoming Sheffield United match

Casemiro then played for the full 90 minutes against Uruguay, allaying any fitness fears, only to be ruled out of the win over Sheffield United. He's back in training and suspended for the game against Copenhagen.

Erik ten Hag said last week: "It's disappointing that Casemiro picked up an injury, but it's not too bad. I'm confident he will be back for the next games."

Potential return date: October 29 vs Man City

Sergio Reguilon

Luke Shaw

Left-back Shaw last played for United on August 19 before being ruled out for approximately ten weeks when diagnosed with a leg muscle injury shortly afterwards.

Ten Hag has refused to put a timeframe on his return from injury but the England international has not yet returned to training.

Potential return date: November 26 vs Everton

Lisandro Martinez

Martinez has played for the last time in 2023 after undergoing a second operation on his foot.

After surgery on a broken metatarsal in the spring, the Argentine defender felt discomfort in September’s games against Brighton and Bayern Munich before a fresh three-month lay-off was confirmed.

Amad Diallo

There are hopes Amad will be back soon after he teased his return on social media last week.

Out since pre-season with a knee problem, the young winger said he will be “just a little longer before returning” amid reports of a potential loan move in January.

Potential return date: November 2023

Kobbie Mainoo

A two-month spell on the sidelines looked to be coming to an end for Mainoo after his return to training earlier this month.

However, he missed a behind-closed-doors friendly against Barnsley over the international break due to a reported setback.

Tyrell Malacia

Malacia’s long-term absence has not been fully explained by the club.

There are reports that the Dutch defender will still be out for a number of weeks, given he will have to gradually return after missing pre-season, and he was spotted in light training on Monday as he closes in on a return.
