Manchester United injury update and Lisandro Martinez latest ahead of Wolves clash

Manchester United marked their return to Premier League action with a win against Nottingham Forest and will look to make it three league victories on the bounce with a win against Wolves on New Year's Eve.

United's chances were given a timely boost with the return of Lisandro Martinez this week. Erik ten Hag had allowed the defender time off after Argentina's World Cup win but he has now returned, though it is still unclear whether he will start on Saturday.

If Martinez is not available, United will hope to have Harry Maguire available after returning from Qatar with an illness.

United have other issues throughout the team that may limit their options. Victor Lindelof and Scott McTominay missed United's win over Nottingham Forest through illness and it is unclear whether they will be available for the trip to Wolves.

Diogo Dalot has been recovering from a hamstring injury that he picked up while playing for Portugal and was replaced by Aaron Wan-Bissaka in United's Carabao Cup fixture against Burnley as well as their Premier League clash with Forest. Wan-Bissaka is again expected to start against Wolves, despite Dalot being pictured back in training on Friday.

Two players who will miss out are Jadon Sancho and Axel Tuanzebe. Sancho has been away on an individual training programme since the beginning of the World Cup, and though he has now returned he will not play a part against Wolves. Meanwhile, Tuanzebe remains sidelined.
