Manchester United 'identify new striker target' and more transfer rumours

Manchester United have been linked with a move for Ollie Watkins as they aim to solve their problems in attack.

United need to sign a new striker in the summer transfer window and are working under the assumption Tottenham will refuse to sell Harry Kane. MEN Sport understands Rasmus Hojlund, Victor Osimhen and Randal Kolo Muani are among the players being considered for the role.

According to The Athletic, United are also looking at Watkins with the fee for Hojlund much higher than expected. The report claims Atalanta have placed an £86million price tag on the youngster.

As a result, United are now 'watching' Watkins, who has proven Premier League experience, helping Aston Villa climb the table this season to gain a berth in the Europa League. The Englishman is in talks over a new deal with Unai Emery's side and is viewed as an integral part of their plans moving forward.

Elsewhere, Eric Bailly is being linked with a move to Real Betis in Spain. According to MD, following Victor Ruiz’s departure, Betis are in the market for a new central defender to bolster Manuel Pellegrini's squad.

Bailly spent the 2022-23 season on loan in Ligue 1 with Marseille. With just one year left on his contract at United, they are looking to cash-in on the defender.
