Manchester United are hopeful of finalising the permanent sale of Tahith Chong on deadline day.
The Manchester Evening News revealed on Monday that Birmingham were interested in signing the Dutch winger and talks are progressing well over his exit before Thursday's deadline.
Chong, 22, has entered the final year of his contract at Old Trafford and was deemed surplus to requirements after being given a chance by Erik ten Hag in pre-season.

The United academy graduate will join fellow youngster Hannibal Mejbri at the Championship club, after the Tunisian completed a loan move to Birmingham last weekend.
United have a good working relationship with the Midlands club, having sent academy duo Teden Mengi and Chong on loan to St. Andrew's last season. Chong scored once and assisted two goals in 16 starts for the Blues, despite his season being interrupted by a four-month lay-off due to groin surgery.
The youngster joined United from Feyenoord's academy in 2016 and he made his debut against Reading in the FA Cup third round in January 2019. He has not played competitively for United since the Europa League last-16 second leg against LASK in August 2020.
United are also open to a host of youth loan departures on deadline day as they look to secure regular football for a number of players who have outgrown the academy set-up.
Northern Ireland midfielder Ethan Galbraith is attracting interest from English and Scottish clubs, and the club is still keen on sending Shola Shoretire out on loan.
Teden Mengi and Dishon Bernard were both due to leave on loan this summer before suffering injury setbacks, and fellow defender Will Fish was promised a loan move when he signed a new contract in July.
United had planned to send both Matej Kovar and Nathan Bishop out on loan but there is a chance they could both end up staying.
