Manchester United have been handed an £18million boost ahead of January transfer window

It's looking like it could be a rather hectic January window for Manchester United. The club hadn't planned to spend any money next month but are now drawing up plans to sign a new forward to help offset Cristiano Ronaldo's release.

January additions are often saved for clubs that are desperate. Despite their best efforts on the pitch, United have fallen into this category through no fault of their own.

Signing a new striker was considered in the summer, though it was only ever viewed as a preference rather than a priority given the other areas of concern in their squad.

Erik ten Hag showed why he is Manchester United manager material again

Programmes were published for Manchester United's humdrum friendly with Cadiz, an occasion so low-key an unattended box of programmes was still full as supporters strolled off the Plaza de Madrid.

They were a collector's item for those who grabbed a souvenir as Aaron Wan-Bissaka started. On the evidence of his half and the accomplished half of his replacement, the Catalan Marc Jurado, it may be Wan-Bissaka's only start under Erik ten Hag.
