Manchester United handed Paul Pogba injury worry after Raphael Varane scare

Manchester United have been handed a fresh injury concern during the international break after Paul Pogba missed training, days after Raphael Varane was forced off against Ivory Coast.

Pogba, 29, only returned to first-team action against Burnley earlier this year after missing a number of months due to a thigh injury he suffered during a training camp with Didier Deschamps' side in the October international break. On Sunday, he was forced out of training with a contusion in his left foot, although it's not believed to be serious.

Central defender Varane, on the other hand, provided worry ahead of United's important Premier League run-in when he left the action just before the hour-mark in Les Bleu's 2-1 friendly win over Ivory Coast on Friday. Deschamps confirmed that the former Real Madrid man was forced off with a 'small problem' in his foot.

RTL France journalist Baptiste Durieux reported first that Pogba was missing from France's preparations to play South Africa on Tuesday. Varane, meanwhile, was forced to undergo specific individual training due to the injury sustained on Friday but his efforts lasted just 10 minutes, it appears.

With the United players away on international duty set to return next week, the diagnosis on the French duo will be anxiously anticipated ahead of Leicester City's visit to Old Trafford on Saturday. With Champions League qualification now the sole focus, Ralf Rangnick's side needs to claw back the four-point gap between themselves and Arsenal.
