Manchester United have reportedly been presented with an opening to sign Denzel Dumfries and Erik ten Hag wants to step up his pursuit for the Netherlands international this summer.
As part of their ongoing rebuild, United have already welcomed Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen and Ajax defender Lisandro Martinez to the club. Frenkie de Jong remains a priority target, but Ten Hag could also buy another right-back to provide competition for Diogo Dalot.
Dalot has started all four pre-season matches this summer and has generally impressed. However, Ten Hag's eagerness to pursue players who have played in the Eredivisie could be a factor in his decision-making.

Dumfries, 26, moved from PSV Eindhoven to Inter last summer but could already be on his way out. Reports from Calciomercato suggest Inter have slapped a £34million price tag on the 35-cap international and that they might be forced to cash in on prized assets such as Dumfries owing to FFP rules.
Elsewhere, transfer-listed academy graduate Brandon Williams has been identified as a possible target for Brighton should Spain defender Marc Cucurella move to Manchester City. City want Cucurella after allowing Oleksandr Zinchenko to sign for Arsenal.
Williams, 21, spent last season on loan with Norwich and has been deemed surplus to requirements.
Brighton have already turned down one offer from City for Cucurella, but the Premier League champions are tipped to continue their pursuit for the former Getafe man. The Mirror named Williams among possible options for Brighton to target as a replacement for the in-demand Spanish defender.
