Gary Neville has reiterated calls for the Glazer family to sell Manchester United after Fenway Sports Group (FSG) confirmed they are welcoming fresh investment at Liverpool FC.
United have been owned by the much-maligned Americans since 2005 and there have been protests against the boardroom figures once again this season. Incidentally, it was before the victory over Liverpool in August that the most-recent public marches took place around Old Trafford.
FSG are, meanwhile, open to a full-blown takeover at Anfield or at the very least new shareholders. It comes after both clubs were involved in shelved plans for a controversial European Super League (ESL) and as Liverpool aim to generate enough funds to compete better financially at the Premier League summit.

It has also revived anti- Glazer comments as Sky Sports pundit Neville shares his thoughts.
Gary Neville was speaking on The Overlap in partnership with Sky Bet. He said: "I said five months ago Manchester United owners have to sell the club because they need the cash to redevelop the training ground and stadium like what Liverpool are doing.
"Chelsea's valuation of £4.25bn will only last for 12-18 months before people realise the club aren't making profit.
"It makes complete sense for Liverpool owners to want to sell the club, as they don't have the money to compete with the other clubs in the league. They've developed the stadium, they've got Jurgen Klopp as manager, and if the Chelsea valuation is now set there as a benchmark for other clubs..."
Neville continued: "Owners are thinking now is a good time to get out. The Glazer family at Manchester United may be thinking the same thing about getting out now as they need the cash, but the difference with them is that some members of the family don't want to get rid of the club."
