Martial out of cup final
Anthony Martial has been ruled out of the FA Cup final with a hamstring injury. The Manchester United forward has missed 32 matches this season through a number of different setbacks.
His latest issue was picked up in the latter stages of United's 2-1 final day win over Fulham on Sunday. The Frenchman strained his hamstring with later assessments showing a tear in the muscle.
The striker has played 29 times this season but has failed to see out a full 90 minutes. United are after a new striker this summer and the club are open to allowing Martial to leave with exits needed to facilitate arrivals.
United given fresh Van de Beek injury boost
Donny van de Beek was seen going through ball exercises in United training on Monday as he continues his recovery from a season-ending knee injury.
The Dutchman played only 10 times, just four of them starts, before having to undergo surgery having suffered a setback injury in January’s 3-0 win over Bournemouth, United’s first game of 2023.
Van de Beek began gym work in March before taking to the Carrington grass for individual training earlier this month. The 26-year-old has now been seen completing drills with the ball during a one-to-one session.
The former Ajax star will not be available for Saturday's FA Cup final against Manchester City, but Erik ten Hag hopes to have him back in time for pre-season. Van de Beek still has two years remaining on his deal.
