Manchester United supporters have been quick to draw comparisons between Wout Weghorst and former midfielder Marouane Fellaini after discovering that Weghorst will wear the number 27 for the club.
United announced on Friday that they had reached an agreement with Burnley and Besiktas to sign the 30-year-old striker. Weghorst's parent club is Burnley but he had been on a season-long loan at the Turkish giants this season.
However, when the Reds made an approach for the forward Besiktas initially refused to allow the Dutchman to return to Turf Moor to complete a switch to Old Trafford. Eventually, the three parties agreed a deal that sees Weghorst join United until the end of the campaign.

On Sunday Weghorst took part in his first training session at Carrington with his new teammates after watching them beat Manchester City in the derby a day prior. Later in the day, United confirmed that the target man would wear the number 27 shirt for the duration of his stay this season.
Alex Telles donned the 27 for United before he was sent on loan to Sevilla at the beginning of the campaign meaning the number was up for grabs this season. But, it was not Telles who sprung to United fans' minds when they saw the announcement.
Many supporters remembered another tall player being handed the number 27 at Old Trafford - Fellaini. The Belgian was signed by David Moyes in 2013 and would go on to spend six years with the Reds before moving to pastures new in 2019.
During his time in Manchester, Fellaini made 177 appearances for the club scoring 22 goals and grabbing 12 assists. While the 35-year-old did win the Europa League, FA Cup and League Cup with the Reds, he is perhaps best remembered for his aggressive approach to football.
Clearly these United fans on Twitter think that they are set to see another physical player where the number 27 shirt in the weeks and months to come.
