Manchester United fans were sent wild as Donny van de Beek responded to Frenkie de Jong announcing his engagement on Instagram.
De Jong posted a picture on Friday of himself proposing to his partner, Mikky Kiemeney, while on holiday in the United States. The midfielder captioned the picture: “I can’t wait to spend the rest of our lives together. She Said Yes."
The post garnered plenty of congratulatory replies from his international colleagues and former Ajax teammates. But it was Van de Beek’s reply which drew the attention of United fans.

United are, of course, looking to secure De Jong’s services this summer, with Erik ten Hag having identified him as his ideal signing as he targets reinforcements in midfield. And supporters hope Van de Beek might play a part in him switching Camp Nou for Old Trafford.
Having replied to De Jong’s post with a love heart emoji, United fans were quick to jump on the midfielder’s response. Van de Beek was inundated with fans referring to him as “agent Donny” and pleading with him to help persuade his Netherlands teammate to make the move to the Premier League.
There were also plenty of supporters replying directly to De Jong, begging him to sign for United. Those fans will hope to get their wish over the coming days.
Discussions remain ongoing as United try to sign De Jong from Barcelona this summer. United agreed a fee with the Catalan side earlier this week as they look to wrap up their first additions of the transfer window.
A deal is expected to be completed for €65m (£56.14m) plus add-ons. United will hope to get the deal wrapped up as De Jong returns from his holiday soon.
