Not all Manchester United supporters are convinced after reports in Spain emerged to suggest that the club has 'activated proceedings' to try and sign Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong.
As reported by the Manchester Evening News last month, United are weighing up a big-money bid for the midfielder, who stepped off the bench to help the Netherlands beat Wales 2-1 in the Nations League on Wednesday evening. Speculation concerning his future has been mounting over the last few weeks as United look to strengthen their midfield options this summer.
Barcelona head coach Xavi has reiterated his desire on several occasions to keep hold of the 25-year-old, but club president Joan Laporta last week admitted last week that he could be sold to help the club financially. De Jong joined the Spanish giants from Ajax in 2019 and is considered as one of their most sellable assets.
