Manchester United supporters are concerned that Barcelona star Frenkie de Jong needs to be 'convinced' by Erik ten Hag to sign for the club. De Jong remains a top target for Ten Hag as the new boss oversees a rebuild at United.
De Jong and Ten Hag spent time together at Ajax and the Netherlands playmaker has spent the past three seasons at the Nou Camp. Barcelona are open to cashing-in on him to ease ongoing financial concerns and United have set their sights on strengthening central midfield, as well as other areas this summer window.
Manchester Evening News revealed last month that United were weighing-up a swoop for De Jong and talks over his future have been a constant focus of the summer, so far. Reports circulating over the weekend, meanwhile, say the 25-year-old has been convinced by the project.

However, after missing out on Benfica forward Darwin Nunez as he closes in on a £85million switch to bitter rivals Liverpool, supporters are feeling a little bit anxious about De Jong and the prospects of him touching down at Old Trafford. He could cost United around the £75million mark.
Despite these latest reports suggesting De Jong is on board after Ten Hag — his mentor and one time Ajax manager — went on the charm offensive, there are lingering question marks over the transfer and some United supporters need to be convinced over motive and desire.
