Manchester United fans ask Sergino Dest question after Ethan Laird scores for QPR

Manchester United fans have vented their frustration at the club's decision to allow right-back Ethan Laird to go out on loan after he scored his first QPR goal, as United explore a season-long loan deal for Barcelona's Sergino Dest.

The United loanee opened his account for the Championship side, as the right-back scored after just 15 minutes in QPR's 3-1 win over Hull City on Tuesday night.

United are currently in talks with Barcelona over a possible move for former Ajax defender Dest. United have Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot as options in that area at the moment, but Erik ten Hag views Dest as a more suitable player for United than Wan-Bissaka.

The Dutchman's philosophy at Ajax heavily relied on the use of his full-backs pressing high and getting up the pitch to provide extra offensive support. Laird's profile on paper seems to tick all the boxes that Ten Hag would look for in a full-back, which therefore raised some eyebrows when he allowed the youngster to leave the club on loan this summer.

Now Laird has shown his attacking threat for all to see, as he scored his first goal for the West London side. The full-back did well to get on the end of a cross as he made a run between two defenders to poke the ball home on the edge of the six-yard-box.

It didn't take long for United fans to take to social media as they vented their frustration at not only the club's decision to allow Laird to leave, but also to question why they are pursuing Dest this transfer window:
