Manchester United fans agree after Amad suffers difficult Old Firm derby debut with Rangers

Wednesday night proved to be a steep learning curve for Manchester United youngster Amad Diallo.

The young forward made his second start since joining Scottish champions Rangers on a temporary deal, and he couldn’t have been handled a much bigger test as he faced his first Old Firm game against Celtic.

Things didn’t go well for the 19-year-old or his team-mates, with Rangers falling 3-0 down before half-time at Celtic Park, and Amad found himself being substituted at the half-time break.

Although the visitors managed to stem the flow in the second half, there was no way back into the game for them as their bitter rivals leapfrogged them to the summit of the table.

For Amad, it was a far cry from his debut for Rangers, having scored just five minutes into his first appearance against Ross County before playing a big hand in bringing his side level in the second half.

The manner of the defeat at Celtic Park though demonstrated just why the teenager made the move north of the border as he looks to stake a claim to be involved in the first team at Old Trafford next season.

United fans kept a close eye on proceedings on Wednesday, and could see there is still plenty of work for the youngster to do.

Amad looks set for more testing encounters with Rangers before the end of the month, including a huge knockout tie in the Europa League.

The Scottish champions head to Borussia Dortmund for the first leg of their last-32 clash on February 17, before hosting the German giants the following week at Ibrox.
