Manchester United decision sparks transfer race for former Nottingham Forest loan star

Manchester United are reportedly willing to let James Garner leave the club after slapping a £14million price tag on the former Nottingham Forest loanee.

The 21-year-old spent last season on loan at the City Ground, contributing to the Reds' promotion campaign to the Premier League. In what was his second stint at the club, he provided eight assists and four goals in 44 outings.

According to reports, United have placed a £14million price tag on Garner, as they look to free up funds this summer. He is currently attracting interest from Aston Villa, Tottenham, Leeds, Southampton and Newcastle, according to The Sun.

Although United have reportedly turned down offers for the 21-year-old earlier this summer, they are now "willing to let him go" as the club believes the academy graduate has "little hope" of establishing himself in the first team. Despite the interest, no club is "willing" to meet the £14m demand, it is said.

His return to United has perhaps not gone as he expected, despite being named on the bench for Erik ten Hag's first two games of the season. The Red Devils have reached an agreement to sign Real Madrid's star Casimero, which means his opportunities will be restricted as he is also contending with Fred and Scott McTominay for a spot.
