Manchester United dealt injury blow ahead of Southampton as exits for three players ruled out

United give updates on Martial and Casemiro

Anthony Martial is out of Manchester United 's Premier League game at Southampton on Saturday.

Martial, who missed the first two games of the season with a hamstring strain, came on in the 2-1 win over Liverpool on Monday night but has since sustained an Achilles injury.

The Frenchman trained in midweek but has been ruled out of Saturday's trip by United manager Erik ten Hag. New signing Casemiro is available to make his debut at St Mary's.

Erik ten Hag confirms three United players are not leaving

Phil Jones, Brandon Williams and Axel Tuanzebe are unlikely to leave United before the transfer window closes on Thursday.

Jones has not trained with the squad all summer and started two games in the last two years while Tuanzebe left the club's pre-season tour after the first game in Bangkok and Williams has been unavailable through injury for nearly two months.

United want to make at least two signings before next week's 11pm deadline on the night they play Leicester but Ten Hag was coy on the prospect of any more reinforcements.
