In a thrilling third round clash, Manchester United emerged victorious with a comfortable 2-0 win over third-tier side Wigan. This result ensured that United avoided becoming the highest-profile casualty of the FA Cup this season. Diogo Dalot and Bruno Fernandes, both Portugal internationals, found the back of the net to secure United's passage to the last 32 of the competition. Their next opponents will be determined through a match between Newport County and Eastleigh, two more lower-league teams.
Despite facing significant pressure on manager Erik ten Hag following a string of recent losses, Manchester United showcased their dominance in this encounter. The team, which reached the FA Cup final last season but fell short against Manchester City, produced an impressive display against Wigan, a team that once graced the Premier League back in 2013. That year, Wigan emerged as Cup winners, stunning fans and pundits alike by defeating mighty Manchester City in the final, creating one of the competition's biggest shocks.
