Manchester United could see £330m line-up leave this summer during Erik ten Hag rebuild

Excitement is building at Manchester United as Erik ten Hag sets about his much-needed summer rebuild.

With the transfer window not yet open, the former Ajax manager has not been able to get his first signing over the line - amid interest in Jurrien Timber and Frenkie de Jong among others - but the foundations are starting to be put in place for his impending recruitment drive.

United confirmed three high-profile departures this week and others are set to follow as Ten Hag frees up room in his squad and wage bill. Here, we take a closer look at the £330million line-up United could see depart over the course of their first window with the 52-year-old at the helm.

Dean Henderson

Having spent time as number one last season, Dean Henderson was forced to play second fiddle this campaign to a rejuvenated David de Gea. Newcastle are interested in Henderson and he remains almost certain to leave for around £40million.

Transfer status: Interest from Newcastle

Aaron Wan-Bissaka

It has been three years since Aaron Wan-Bissaka signed for United in a near-£50million switch. However, while the player commanded a regular place under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, he has now been deemed surplus to requirements and offered to other clubs.

Signed: £49.5million from Crystal Palace in 2019

Transfer status: Being offered to clubs

Phil Jones

Phil Jones still has another 12 months left to run on his United contract. But with Ten Hag wanting to sign a centre-back and other players ahead of him in the pecking order - Harry Maguire, Raphael Varane and Victor Lindelof - the club would not stand in his way if a reasonable offer came in.

Signed: £17.4million from Blackburn Rovers in 2011

Transfer status: Expected to leave

Eric Bailly

Copy and paste from above. Eric Bailly put pen to paper on a contract extension last summer, but only went on to make seven appearances throughout the season. He remains one of few saleable assets.

Signed: £34.3million from Villarreal in 2016

Transfer status: Uncertain

Alex Telles

While the futures of many players in this line-up are simple to predict, there remains an element of mystery around the Brazilian and what Ten Hag might have in store for him. You would expect Luke Shaw to be first choice for the incoming Dutchman, so where does that leave Alex Telles moving forward?

Signed: £12.8million from FC Porto in 2020

Transfer status: Uncertain

Paul Pogba

It was the news that didn't need confirmation. Paul Pogba has called time on his second chapter with United and will leave on a free transfer, a decade on from his initial switch to Juventus. It cost United around £90million to re-sign the academy graduate under Jose Mourinho in 2016.

Signed: £89million from Juventus in 2016

Transfer status: Released

Nemanja Matic

United were already setting their sights on a defensive midfielder before Nemanja Matic announced a surprise exit on social media. As things stand, that decision means Ten Hag is without a natural sitter in his squad and the former Ajax manager will need to address that when getting down to business.

Signed: £40.2million from Chelsea in 2017

Transfer status: Released

Juan Mata

When he signed a 12-month extension last summer, it was widely anticipated Juan Mata would be heading into his final season as a United player and so that has proved, despite late hints he could be about to perform a U-turn. His departure was one of three confirmed in the space of 48 hours this week.

Signed: £38.3million from Chelsea in 2014

Transfer status: Released

Jesse Lingard

Jesse Lingard gave everything to the United cause over 20 years. However, that story has ended on a bitter note; including unfulfilled promises over game-time, a social media rant from his brother and no chance to say goodbye to the Old Trafford faithful. A bargain awaits for someone else.

Signed: n/a (Academy graduate)

Transfer status: Released

Edinson Cavani

Cristiano Ronaldo heading back to the place where it all began on a global scale last summer was sensational news for everyone - Edinson Cavani aside. As a result, the lesser-spotted Uruguayan was forced into the backdrop and his departure on a free transfer, after two seasons, was completely expected.

Signed: n/a (Free transfer)

Transfer status: Released

Anthony Martial

Seven years have passed since United splashed out £50million on Anthony Martial and he touched down in the UK with the world at his feet. Despite showing glimpses of his vast ability, the Frenchman has not been consistent over those seasons and faces an uncertain future under Ten Hag. But he remains another saleable asset.

Signed: £50million from AS Monaco in 2015

Transfer status: Uncertain
