Manchester United could face three Brighton players who would improve their squad

So you're saying there's a chance?

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was partial to quoting Lloyd Christmas and if Manchester United beat Brighton and Tottenham lose at Liverpool then United would be three points off fourth on Sunday morning.

Brighton were the better side at Old Trafford in February when it was 11 vs 11 but their form plummeted thereafter. In the last four weeks, they have won at Arsenal, Tottenham and Wolves, and Graham Potter is one of the most impressive coaches in the top flight.

Sources of inspiration?

United tried to sign Moises Caicedo in January of last year until negotiations became messy and their loss has been Brighton's gain. Caicedo was excellent on his first Premier League start at Arsenal and he has lined up in all four games since.

Yves Bissouma is one of the most impressive defensive midfielders in the league and right-back Tariq Lamptey, a steal at £3m, is interesting Tottenham. United would improve with any of the trio in their squad.

Stop the rot?

United have lost their last four away games and not won on the road since the 4-2 at Leeds on February 20, possibly the highlight of the season.

City and Liverpool trounced United, who were listless in between at Everton. On their last away day at Arsenal, they were relentless in attack but profligate, a recurring theme since the domestic season restarted in February.

Youth Cup plans?

Alejandro Garnacho has been mainly unused during his matchday squad inclusions over the last month and United host Nottingham Forest in the FA Youth Cup final on Wednesday. Garnacho is a certain starter and with no Under-23 or Under-18 fixtures before then, United have to consider whether to give him a proper run-out in a senior game or rest him for Forest.

Fernandez and Mejbri to get a look-in?

It has been senseless delaying Alvaro Fernandez's career debut this long and Hannibal Mejbri has had a paltry amount of playing time despite almost every outfield player at United being out of form.

Alex Telles is claiming assists from corners but has been playing by default since April and Bruno Fernandes avoided a demotion despite his worst run of form all season. The Portuguese speakers are likely to keep their places and it could be a 15-day wait for Fernandez and Mejbri to get a fulfilling first-team appearance at Crystal Palace.
