Manchester United 'considering' Tammy Abraham move and more transfer rumours

Manchester United are 'considering' a summer swoop for Roma striker Tammy Abraham.

That is according to a report by Italian newspaper Il Messaggero, as cited by Football Italia, who claim that United are mulling over the prospect of signing the England international to act as Cristiano Ronaldo's successor. Abraham joined Roma on a permanent deal last summer and has been nothing short of outstanding in the Italian capital.

So far making 40 appearances in all competitions for the club, Abraham has notched 23 goals, as well as claiming four assists. He has exceeded expectations and English football supporters have been left pondering what might have been, considering he was linked with numerous Premier League clubs last summer ahead of leaving Chelsea.

Arsenal, to name just one club, were closely linked with the former Bristol City loanee and were mocked by some supporters for their interest. However, his form for Roma this season has meant that the limelight has been firmly focused on him for the right reasons.

Now, it is claimed in Italy that United are keeping a watchful eye on his development ahead of the summer. They have plans to reduce the average age of their centre-forwards this summer and Abraham, 24, would certainly do just that.

Furthermore, it is claimed that it would take United to stump up a 'huge offer' to tempt Roma into a sale. He joined Jose Mourinho's side on a five-year deal for £34million in August.

Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest will look to try and sign on-loan United midfielder James Garner on a permanent deal this summer if they are promoted to the Premier League, a report by The Athletic claims. The 20-year-old, for a second time, joined Forest on loan last summer and has excelled this season.

Playing a key role in their charge up the Championship table under manager Steve Cooper, Garner has been outstanding in midfield and become a firm fans' favourite at the City Ground. The youngster starred once again on Sunday as Forest were knocked out of the FA Cup at the quarter-final stage by Liverpool, losing 1-0.

Scoring three goals and registering six assists in all competitions, Garner, who is understood to be targeting a first-team berth at Old Trafford next season, has been the glue that has made Forest rise from the bottom of the Championship table to just outside the play-off places. His importance has been glaringly obvious and the fans have fallen in love.

With 10 games to go, Forest, who have three games in hand on some of their nearest rivals, are just three points outside the play-off places and are one of the favourites to get promoted via the end-of-season play-offs. Should they go up, it is reported that they will look to try and prise Garner away from Old Trafford on a permanent basis.
