Manchester United have announced that Lisandro Martinez will wear the No.6 for the club.
United have finally been able to confirm the transfer of versatile defender Martinez from Ajax a few weeks on from announcing that they had reached a deal with the Dutch champions. United have paid an initial £46.8million for the Argentine which could rise to £55.3m. Erik ten Hag has moved to strengthen his defensive options with the capture of Martinez after the pair enjoyed great success together in Amsterdam. The 24-year-old has penned a five-year contract at Old Trafford to 2027 with the option of a further 12 months.
It has also been confirmed that Martinez will sport No.6 - the number vacated by Paul Pogba - in his first campaign in the Premier League

Upon completing the deal, Martinez said: "It’s an honour to join this great football club. I’ve worked so hard to get to this moment and, now that I’m here, I’m going to push myself even further.
“I’ve been lucky enough to be part of successful teams in my career and that’s what I want to continue at Manchester United. There will be a lot of work to get to that moment, but I firmly believe that, under this manager and coaches, and together with my new team-mates, we can do it.
“I want to thank Ajax and their fans for all the support they gave me. I had an unbelievable time there but feel the moment is right to test myself in another environment. Now I am at the perfect club to do this.”
