Manchester United have confirmed Jesse Lingard will leave the club this month amid reported interest from Newcastle. A 22-year relationship is over as the Red Devils decided against renewing the England international’s contract.
The Magpies were linked with Lingard - who was understood to be keen on the move - in January but Manchester United blocked the move. Reports at the time claimed Man United demanded a £12million “survival bonus” in the event of Newcastle staying up.
Toon chiefs opted against a move at the time but that has not stopped the rumours circulating again. West Ham - the club where Lingard had a successful loan stint 18 months ago - are also believed to be in the running, as are clubs in Italy.

The midfielder had been at the Red Devils since seven-years-old and amassed over 200 appearances for his boyhood club. Just three Premier League starts last season forced Lingard’s exit if he is to regain his place in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the World Cup.
A statement on Man United’s website read: “Manchester United can confirm that Jesse Lingard will leave the club when his contract expires at the end of June. An Academy graduate and dyed-in-the-wool Red, Jesse has been with United for over 20 years, having originally joined our Under-9s team in 2001.
“We’d like to take this opportunity to thank Jesse for all of the memories he’s helped create during his two decades here and wish him the best of luck in his future career.”
