Nottingham Forest are set to miss out on James Garner after reports that he is "close" to joining Premier League rivals Everton.
The midfielder has been the subject of speculation this summer after playing a starring role in the Reds' promotion from the Championship last season. Garner contributed to four goals and eight assists at the City Ground to help Forest return to the Premier League.
Reports over the summer had linked the 21 year-old with a move back to the East Midlands, but that has not happened. Forest are now set to miss out on the United man.

Garner is now expected to leave the Red Devils to join Frank Lampard's Everton, according to Fabrizio Romano. The transfer expert has said that the Toffees are "winning the race" to sign the midfielder and are "feeling close" to complete a permanent deal.
There are three other clubs who have reportedly made a bid, but Everton are favourites to land the England Under-21 international. Lampard has already brought Amadou Onana from Lille to bolster his midfield, with Idrissa Gueye close to a return to Goodison Park.
Garner has found his chances hard to come by at Old Trafford under Erik ten Hag, with Casemiro's arrival from Real Madrid knocking him further down the pecking order.
