Manchester United have made another new appointment behind the scenes with established legal figure Patrick Stewart being added to their PLC board of directors.
Stewart has a long-standing association with United dating back 16 years. During that time, he has served as chief legal officer and general counsel.
A graduate from the University of Glasgow and the Johannes Gutenberg-Universitat Mainz (in Germany), Stewart qualified as a solicitor in 1997 and worked for two leading UK commercial law firms before stepping into a first role at Old Trafford, while he also spent time with Swiss sports marketing agency TEAM Marketing AG.

TEAM Marketing AG are responsible for selling commercial rights associated with the Champions League, which is widely regarded as the premier competition in world football. Stewart was appointed as an arbitrator at the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Switzerland in 2018.
His position at Old Trafford involves managing the company's legal and regulatory affairs. He is also responsible for creating, establishing and maintaining relationships with football stakeholders.
Stewart joined the club in 2006. His new appointment was confirmed by United on Thursday night. It comes after the Glazers announced last month that they were exploring new investment opportunities for the club, and that could include a full sale.
Several changes have been made, on and off the pitch, at Old Trafford throughout this calendar year with Erik ten Hag appointed as permanent successor to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick in the dugout. He brought in six players in his first transfer window and will continue the squad rebuild next month.
Richard Arnold was, meanwhile, tasked with replacing Ed Woodward when he stepped up to become CEO at the club. Arnold had previously worked as group managing director as well as heading up their commercial team after initially joining United at a similar time to Stewart.
