Manchester United: Andre Onana in line for return vs Everton in second injury boost

Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana hopes to return for their trip to Everton on Sunday despite suffering up a groin injury on international duty.

Onana felt pain when making a save for Cameroon in their 3-0 victory over Mauritius on Friday and had to be substituted.

But his withdrawal has been described as precautionary.

Onana flew back to Manchester on Sunday and trained twice with United, missing Cameroon's draw with Libya.

He is expected to be passed fit to play at Goodison Park on Sunday, with understudy Altay Bayindir ready to deputise should Onana not be deemed fit.

Bayindir is still waiting to make his debut yet for Man United after his £4.3million move from Fenerbahce in the summer.

Luke Shaw also returned to first-team training for the first time in three months at Carrington on Wednesday.

The England international defender is in line to play for the first time since August, which is another major boost for manager Erik ten Hag.

United remain without Lisandro Martinez, Casemiro, Jonny Evans and Tyrell Malacia.

Striker Rasmus Hojlund and midfielder Christian Eriksen are also doubts after picking up injuries in the 1-0 win over Luton before the international break.
