Manchester United ace Christian Eriksen gives Hannibal Mejbri advice ahead of first World Cup

Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen has told Hannibal Mejbri to "enjoy" his first World Cup as he shared some words of wisdom with the youngster ahead of the tournament.

Hannibal was included in United's squad for their pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia by Erik ten Hag, but after missing out on the first four games of the season he opted for a move to Birmingham on loan to continue his development at St Andrew's. The 19-year-old has thoroughly impressed during his time there, vindicating his decision to go in search of first-team football after being selected for Tunisia's World Cup squad.

The teenager is one of 16 United players travelling to Qatar, as he features in Group D, where he will come up against Raphael Varane's France and Eriksen's Denmark, as well as Australia.

Eriksen made his senior international debut for Denmark in 2010 aged 18, and was the youngest player at the 2010 World Cup finals in South Africa. The Dane is set for an emotional return to action as he features in a major international tournament for the first time since his cardiac arrest during a Euro 2020 match vs Finland.

The midfielder recently revealed that his main target following the incident two years ago was to take part in the World Cup. Eriksen is now set to come face to face with Hannibal when they take on Tunisia, and he gave the midfielder and the rest of United's youngsters travelling to Qatar some advice ahead of the tournament.

Eriksen told the club's in-house media: “Yeah, enjoy it, I mean it’s not often there is a World Cup so just being there is special and then, of course, getting all the minutes you can on the pitch. It's very different being there compared to when you actually play at a World Cup. So really enjoy the moment.”
