Man City XI vs Liverpool: Starting lineup, confirmed team news and Haaland injury latest today

Erling Haaland is not in the Manchester City squad to face Liverpool this afternoon.

The Norwegian striker is still recovering from a groin injury, which was picked up in the FA Cup win over Burnley and kept him out of his country’s Euro 2024 qualifiers as he travelled to Barcelona for treatment.

Pep Guardiola suggested his fitness may be risked, but in the end the manager has opted against that approach with more-than-capable deputy Julian Alvarez getting the nod.

Man City are also without Phil Foden after an appendix operation earlier this week.

That sees Jack Grealish start on the opposite flank to Riyad Mahrez, with Alvarez stepping up.

Ederson is fit to play despite a bout of illness over the international period.

Liverpool: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Konate, van Dijk, Robertson, Elliott, Fabinho, Henderson, Salah, Gakpo, Jota
