Manchester City make major announcement ahead of Liverpool clash
Manchester City have announced that Phil Foden has signed a three-year contract extension at the club - providing a huge morale boost ahead of Sunday's trip to Anfield.
The Stockport-born academy star has extended his stay at the Etihad until 2027 after penning an extra three years on his previous two-year deal. He will join his City teammates in a huge clash on Sunday, when Pep Guardiola's men come to Merseyside in a bid to pull 16 points clear of their main title rivals from the past five years.
Liverpool have endured their worst start to a league season for a decade, with just two wins and 10 points from their opening eight games. Despite a slow start domestically, however, Klopp's side go into Sunday on the back of a thumping 7-1 win at Rangers on Wednesday - their third consecutive Champions League win.
City drew 0-0 at FC Copenhagen midweek after going down to 10-men early on, but the fact their clash was on Tuesday, plus Guardiola's decision to rest the likes of Erling Haaland, Bernardo Silva and Foden, could have handed an early advantage. And now the current Premier League champions can enjoy another boost with the announcement their boyhood Cityzen has extended his stay.

Arsenal tactic to stop Mohamed Salah revealed after Liverpool win
Kieran Tierney has detailed Mikel Arteta's 'tactical change' which kept Mohamed Salah quiet in last weekend's clash at the Emirates.
The Reds lost 3-2 in controversial circumstances on Sunday, with goals from Darwin Nunez and Roberto Firmino not enough to equal Gabriel Martinelli's early opener and a Bukayo Saka brace. Jurgen Klopp cut a frustrated figure after the final whistle, citing a potential offside in the build up to Martinelli's goal, a missed handball by Gabriel and the soft penalty call that handed Arsenal their winner as three decisions which went against his side on the day.
With Oleksandr Zinchenko injured, Tierney was in-line to make a rare start start his and go head-to-head with Salah. But just a few days before Arsenal welcomed Liverpool to North London, Arteta told the Scot he would be picking Takehiro Tomiyasu - naturally a right-back - on the left instead in a tactical tweak designed specifically to quell the Egyptian King.
“I was thinking that I got taken off in the Thursday game maybe to keep me for ready for the Sunday - and maybe that at the time was his plan as well,” Tierney told Football Daily. “Then, the day before the match, he said 'it's not on your performance, this is just a tactical change that I want to make.'
