Manchester City and England goalkeeper Khiara Keating is set to appear in court on Tuesday after being charged with possession of nitrous oxide, a class C drug commonly known as 'hippy crack.' The 20-year-old was arrested last month and is scheduled to face charges at Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court.
According to a statement from Greater Manchester police, Keating, born on June 27, 2004, from Manchester, has been charged with possession of the class C drug Nitrous Oxide. The charges stem from an incident that occurred on Queens Road on June 18.
Despite attempts to reach out to Manchester City for comment on the charges, there has been no response from the club as of yet.
Keating made headlines last season by becoming the youngest player to win the Women's Super League (WSL) Golden Glove award. She achieved this feat after keeping nine clean sheets in 22 league games for Manchester City, who finished as runners-up in the WSL.
The talented goalkeeper earned her first call-up to the Lionesses squad in October and was part of manager Sarina Wiegman's team for the recent Euro 2025 qualifiers. However, Keating is still awaiting her senior debut for the national team, having previously represented England at the Under-17, U19, and U23 levels.
