In a public tweet on Tuesday, Manchester Airport wrote: "We are aware of an account impersonating us and responding to our customers enquiries.

"If you receive a message from the account in question, please do not reply. We have reported the account to Twitter and you can help by doing this too.

"The only official page for Manchester Airport is @manairport and this is verified by our blue tick. Thank you for your co-operation."
