Manchester Airport’s new boss has spoken out for the first time about the huge queues and delays the hub has seen this year.
Chris Woodroofe has been in the job just 11 days, after former managing director Karen Smart resigned to pursue “fresh opportunities”. Mr Woodroofe admitted customers had suffered a “poor” experience and said peak-time queues would continue over the coming months, advising passengers to arrive three hours before their flights.
The airport has seen queues extending into car parks, missing baggage, police rescues after flights failed to take off and thousands of trips cancelled by text messages. But Mr Woodroofe vowed to “get passengers on their way” for their trips abroad this summer.
