Manchester Airport's CEO Charlie Cornish issued a lengthy statement regarding the travel chaos, apologising but saying wait times are not likely to decrease any time soon.
For several weeks, Manchester Airport has been struggling to meet the demand from travellers following the lifting of restrictions amid staff shortages. Holidaymakers have been seen jumping over barriers and abandoning their bags in the reclaim hall, and queues for security checks are reaching out to the car park.
Managing director Karen Smart resigned on Tuesday, following weeks of chaos at the airport. Mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burnham has revealed plans on tackling the disruption but said the problems are expected to continue for another "two months."
