Manager reveals 'positive' Nottingham Forest transfer discussions

Hull City boss Liam Rosenior says “positive discussions” have been held amid interest in Nottingham Forest defender Harry Toffolo.

The left-back finds himself down the pecking order at the City Ground, following his summer move from Huddersfield Town. With Renan Lodi in fine form and Neco Williams providing an option on that flank, Toffolo has found game time hard to come by.

His challenge will become even tougher once Omar Richards returns from a hairline fracture of the leg, with the club hoping the ex-Bayern Munich man will soon return to full training. Belgian outfit Anderlecht have also been linked, but the Tigers are keen to secure a loan deal for Toffolo before Tuesday’s 11pm deadline, and Rosenior has spoken of his admiration for the player.

"We've got some interest in one area in particular that we've had some positive discussions on,” he told Hull Live. “We'll see where that one goes towards the end of the window.

"Harry is someone who is a very, very good player. He moved from Huddersfield to Nottingham Forest. For me, at the moment, I'm happy with the left-back department, I want to make that really clear.

"I've been very, very happy with Callum Elder and Jacob Greaves there, but there's always conversations and it's not a conversation in terms of myself, it's a conversation for Lee (Darnbrough, head of recruitment), for Tan (Kesler, vice-chairman) and the recruitment meetings.

"Things change really, really quickly. It's not something that we've put an offer in on, but it's something that we could be interested in but at the same time, I'm very happy with my options at left-back."

Toffolo has featured 12 times for the Reds this term. His last appearance came as part of the starting XI in the 4-1 FA Cup defeat at Blackpool.

Since then, he has been an unused substitute against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Carabao Cup and against Leicester City in the league. But he was not part of the squad for last weekend’s trip to Bournemouth or the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg defeat to Manchester United on Wednesday night.
