A man who caused a “disturbance” at a local mosque and was found with knuckle dusters has been arrested and released on bail. Police were called to reports of a man filming outside the Manchester Islamic Centre on Sidney Street on Thursday (April 6).
Officers stopped and searched the 51-year-old man and arrested him for being in possession of a knuckle duster. No injuries have been reported to the police.
The man has since been released on bail while investigations continue.

A spokesperson for GMP said: “At around 9:30pm on Thursday 6 April 2023, Greater Manchester Police were called to a report of a man filming and causing a disturbance outside the Manchester Islamic Centre on Sidney Street in Manchester City Centre.
“Officers attended the scene and following a stop and search, a 51-year-old man was arrested for being in possession of a knuckle duster weapon. Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported.
“He has subsequently been released on bail under investigation whilst enquiries continue.
“Anyone with information that may help with the investigation are asked to contact GMP on 101 quoting incident number 3694 of 06/04/2023.”
