Man who took hostages at Chase bank shot and killed by FBI

  • The suspect had barricaded himself inside the building with several individuals, two of whom were released on Tuesday after negotiations with authorities.
  • The fatal shooting was described by the Bakersfield Police Department as an "officer-involved shooting involving Federal Bureau of Investigation personnel."
  • During the hostage situation , nearby structures including City Hall and the police headquarters were evacuated, and several roads in downtown Bakersfield were temporarily closed.
