(Picture: Met Police)A man who stabbed two people in the neck in west London on the day England lost at the Euros final last year has been jailed for 15 years.
Daniel Bell, 43, of Hayes, was handed the sentence at Isleworth Crown Court on Wednesday after being convicted of two counts of Section 18 GBH in February.
The court heard how police were called to a stabbing on July 11 last year around 11.20pm near the junction of Willow Tree Lane and Reynolds Road in Hayes.
Paramedics and police found two 21-year-old men who had been stabbed by Bell, who luckily went on to make full recoveries.
The victims had been walking along Willow Tree Lane with a third person back to their car after a night out when Bell walked past with a dog on a lead.
One of them briefly patted the dog, and carried on walking, with Bell saying nothing.
But moments later he returned to argue with them, before stabbing his two victims in the neck and running off.
Officers trawled through hours of CCTV to find an image of their suspect, which was then released to the media in an appeal to find him on July 14.
A day later, Bell handed himself into police,
Met Detective Constable Christina Bignell said: “This was an unprovoked attack on three people simply walking back to their car after a meal out.
“There was no justification for the attack launched by Bell that put two men in hospital both suffering knife wounds to their necks.
“It was pure luck that their injuries were not far more serious and it is right that Bell has been held to account for needlessly violent actions.
“I hope that the significant sentence handed down today brings closure and a sense of justice to the victims.”
