A post on X by a woman about a man who claimed to have paid Rs 1.14 crore in income tax this year has sparked a wider debate over whether honest taxpayers in India receive adequate value in return for their contributions.
According to the post, the man shared that after filing his Income Tax Return (ITR), he felt as though he was "no longer earning for myself, but for someone else." The woman also posted a screenshot of his tax summary, which showed an income tax payment of Rs 1.14 crore.
