A man who ran off with a Ukrainian refugee has apologised to his ex-partner for the affair - but she's ruled out taking him back.
Tony Garnett, 30, walked out on 28-year-old partner Lorna, mum to their two kids, to be with Sofiia Karkadym, 22.
The Ukrainian had fled Lviv after Russia's invasion and hoped to find a new home here in the UK.
Security guard Tony, who lives in Bradford, West Yorks, and his family welcomed her into their home.
But after running away with her and embarking on a four-month relationship just 10 days after meeting her, Tony has now cut Sofiia out of his life.
Speaking at Lorna's side for the first time since the ordeal, Tony told the Mail : "I'm sorry about this and everything that's gone on.
"She didn't ask for none of this, I still respect her and have a degree of love for her because she's the mother of my kids."
He added that he'll never speak to Sofiia again, stating she's "gone for good".
Lorna has previously accused Sofiia of flirting with Tony when she first moved in, claiming she would wear more make-up or revealing clothes in an attempt to seduce her partner of 10 years.
But even though he has now apologised in person, she has vowed not to take him back as she tries to come to terms with what has happened to her young family.
She says the whole ordeal has adversely affected her mental health and that she's been prescribed anti-depressants to help cope.
"I do love him, I respect him, he is the father of our beautiful daughters. But there is too much water under the bridge now," said Lorna.
"This has affected my mental health. As soon as the kids were in bed and asleep, I just sat here and cried and cried."
Tony moved out of his family home along with Sofiia in May, just 10 days after she moved in to live with him, Lorna and their two kids.
The four-month relationship came to a dramatic close on Saturday though when Sofiia allegedly used a knife to stab the wall of their rented home in Bradford.
She was then reportedly arrested and taken away by police who warned her not to go back to the property.
But on Monday evening, Sofiia returned and allegedly kicked the door while screaming, "Tony, I love you."
Police swarmed the street again after being called by neighbours and she fled by jumping over a wall before she was reportedly found hiding in a nearby bush.
She was arrested her for a second time but she freed without charge.
Tony says that having gone what he and his family have been put through already, he probably wouldn't consider taking in another Ukrainian refugee.
And neither would Lorna due to the hurt it's caused her family - although they understand not everyone can be tarnished with the same brush.
Instead, Tony says they now need to put this whole episode behind them and focus their attention on being parents for their girls.
And while he says he's not going to get into a relationship with anybody soon, he's had quite a few people sending him nude pictures of themselves.
"It were a huge mistake getting into a relationship with Sofiia," he told the Mail.
"I do regret it. I regret that I've caused pain to Lorna and it's affecting my family.
"But as I said before, I felt (my relationship) was over with Lorna and I hadn't found a way out.
"Sofiia helped me with that. But I never want to see her."
The 22-year-old from Ukraine, however, previously said she still has feelings for Tony and now has nowhere else to go.
Tony claimed that he called things off after the pair had the argument during his 30th birthday celebration on Saturday night - before Monday night's incident.
He described his relationship with Sofiia as a "mistake" but admitted he was still looking out for her.
Tony previously said he would contact the council and Home Office to try and find the Ukrainian a new home - and has always insisted his relationship with his former partner Lorna was "already over" by the time he met Sofiia.
