Man who died on Port Glasgow street named locally as devastated family pay tribute

A man who died after being found seriously injured on a Scots street has been named locally as Stephen Morrison.

Emergency services raced to Lilybank Road and Glenburn Street, Port Glasgow, at 12.40am on Friday, May 6.

Cops locked down the area, close to St John's Primary, as paramedics attended, but a man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

A police investigation has been launched into the death, which officers are treating as unexplained.

Tributes have since poured in from Stephen's heartbroken family.

Stephen, from Greenock, has been hailed by his loved ones, who say he will "never [be] forgotten".

His devastated mum, Christine Morrison, said: "I am devastated and can’t believe I am writing this.

"Heartbroken to have lost my son Stephen who is now in heaven at peace with his dad, Alex. Gone but never forgotten son. You’ll never walk alone."

Stephen's sister, Michelle Morrison, said: "I’m totally heartbroken, my baby brother is now with the angels.

"Will be lost without you bro, look after dad up there. R.I.P Steebo."

Forensic offers in white suits were pictured combing the scene of the death on Friday afternoon.

A team of detectives also attended to gather evidence bags from the incident.

While enquiries remain ongoing, they are urging anybody with information to come forward.

Detective Inspector Nicola Wake, of Greenock CID, said: “Officers received report of a man having been found injured in the lane between Lilybank Road and Glenburn Street in Port Glasgow at 12.40am on Friday, May 6.

“Emergency services attended and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances."
