James Maddison is set to be sold by Leicester this summer - regardless of whether the Foxes stay in the Premier League.
The 26-year-old has just over a year left on his contract at the King Power Stadium and has been linked with a move to Manchester United and Newcastle amongst others. Maddison has scored nine goals and provided seven assists in 25 Premier League matches for the relegated-threatened Foxes this term.
And according to the Telegraph, Maddison is almost guaranteed to leave Leicester in the summer transfer window with a number of Premier League clubs on high alert. It is claimed the Foxes value Maddison at between £45million and £60million given his precarious contract situation.
Newcastle were keen on a move for Maddison last summer and reignited their interest in January but were unable to get a last-minute deal over the line. Manchester City had also joined the queue of clubs wanting Maddison, however, the midfielder stayed at the Foxes for their survival push.
However, with Maddison all but expected to depart the Foxes, it has been reported that Tottenham, the Magpies and Man Utd are all now interested in a summer move. Maddison could have the luxury of choosing where his future lies after hitting double-figures for goals and assists for the fifth successive season.
Leicester boss Dean Smith spoke about the England international in his pre-Everton press conference on Friday and hailed compared him to Jack Grealish. "I think they are different types of players but they both know they've got ability and want to push themselves to become the best," said Smith.
Who should James Maddison join this summer? Let us know in the comments below!
"I think when you've got players that have that personality and character they push you as coaches and you want to go and help them become better players. James seems to have that as well.
"He's always looking to see what he can do better. He's really engaging in the meetings we have and tactical meetings, and very vocal as well. I can see that similarity (with Grealish) of wanting to push himself.
"I'm liking what I'm seeing in training so far and he's not disappointed in the games either. All the players are really focused and James is certainly one of them."
Leicester currently sit 18th and face Everton in what has been described as a relegation six-pointer on Monday night. The Foxes are a point and a place above the Toffees in the Premier League and a win for either side could be massive in their pursuit of survival this season.
Smith's Foxes have picked up four points from their last two matches and will be buoyed by that run of form, while Everton have won one of their last 10 matches. Results went Leicester's way over the weekend as Leeds, Nottingham Forest and Southampton all lost.
