Manchester United continue to draw up plans for the summer transfer window amid ongoing developments on the takeover of the club.
The unpopular Glazers are in talks to sell United with the auction of the Premier League club close to entering its final stages. There is hope from supporters that new owners will bring increased investment and a bigger transfer budget to improve the squad.
On the pitch, Sunday’s 2-0 win against Nottingham Forest saw United climb above Newcastle into third place in the Premier League table and Erik Ten Hag’s side now look nailed on to qualify for the Champions League.
United fans will be keen to see new signings as the club continue to compete on a number of fronts next term and here is a round-up of the latest transfer news from Old Trafford.
'Definite interest' in Osimhen
Signing a new striker is United’s top priority this summer and the club are ‘definitely interested’ in a deal for Victor Osimhen, according to Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth. The Nigeria international Osimhen has scored 25 goals in 30 appearances for Napoli this season.
United let Cristiano Ronaldo go last year before signing Wout Weghorst on loan from Burnley in January to boost Ten Hag’s attacking arsenal. But Weghorst was only ever seen as a stop-gap and a new, long-term option will be targeted this summer.
Osimhen fits the bill and Sheth told Give Me Sport: “Osimhen could be one of the big movers in the summer. United would definitely be interested because they want to fill that position.
“But again, as I mentioned before, that takeover and the finances within that club are going to hold a big key in whether they'd be able to get someone like Osimhen or not.”
Bellingham blow
Jude Bellingham is arguably Europe’s most sought-after player heading into the transfer window and United retain an interest in the midfielder.
Aged just 19, Bellingham has taken the Bundesliga by storm for Borussia Dortmund in the last two years and starred for England at the World Cup in Qatar. The Times report United are keen on Bellingham - along with Manchester City and Real Madrid - but add that the teenager would rather stay in Germany this summer than be pushed into a move that might not work out.
Bellingham is valued at north of £130million by Dortmund. Liverpool recently made it known that they have withdrawn from the chase to sign the ex-Birmingham City starlet despite tracking his progress for several years.
Camavinga contract extension
United have also been linked with Real Madrid sensation Eduardo Camavinga - but all signs point to the 20-year-old signing a new contract at the Santiago Bernabeu.
His agent Jonathan Bartlett is quoted as saying (via Fabrizio Romano): “He (Camavinga) wants to be at Real Madrid his entire life. There will be no problems with Madrid, we will sit down and I'm sure we will reach an agreement.”
Considered to be one the most talented young midfielders in the world, Camavinga has already made 87 appearances for Madrid. But United may have to look elsewhere to reinforce Ten Hag’s squad.
