Man Utd transfer round-up: Erik ten Hag urged to sign duo as Wout Weghorst plan emerges

The summer transfer window is set to officially open in just under six weeks' time - but that hasn't stopped rumours flying around, especially involving Manchester United.

The Red Devils were one of the busiest Premier League clubs last summer as Erik ten Hag revolutionised his squad, with over £200million spent in the transfer market. They are expected to be busy again this year, too, with United set to finish in the Champions League places this season.

Several big-name players have already been linked with a move to Old Trafford, including Jude Bellingham and Victor Osimhen, as Ten Hag attempts to bolster his ranks at the end of the season. Here is a round-up of the latest transfer news from the Red Devils.

Besiktas want Weghorst return

Besiktas are keen to re-sign Wout Weghorst from Burnley this summer, according to The Sun.

Weghorst, who joined United from Burnley in January, has struggled to regularly find the net during his time at the club, scoring just twice in 22 appearances. In fact, the Dutchman still hasn't netted in the Premier League for the Red Devils and was dropped to the bench for the game against Brentford earlier this month.

However, the Sun report that Besiktas want to bring Weghorst back to Turkey - three months since his initial loan spell was cut short. He had scored nine times in 18 matches before his loan agreement was terminated, in order for the forward to return to England and join United for the rest of the season.

It is understood that Burnley would prefer to sell Weghorst on a permanent deal - and Besiktas could be willing to meet that requirement and lure him back to the Super Lig.

United urged to complete two transfers

Louis Saha has urged United to sign Alexis Mac Allister and Moises Caicedo from Brighton this summer as Ten Hag tries to strengthen his midfield department.

Caicedo has been excellent at the base of the Seagulls midfield this term and was very close to moving to Arsenal in January, before deciding to stay put. Meanwhile, World Cup winner Mac Allister has been equally as impressive, providing eight goals and one assist in 26 Premier League matches this season.

Speaking to DAZN Bet, ex-United striker Saha said: "I think Alexis Mac Allister and Moises Caicedo are good players, I’m a big fan of Caicedo in particular. They are the type of players Man Utd may look for because they are aggressive, intelligent and good on the ball. They provide a lot of guarantees.

"But there are lots of players in those positions too. Whether Fred and McTominay are thinking they will move if Ten Hag signs them, then that's a possibility.

"If that's not the case it would be strange. You have Casemiro, Erikson, Bruno who can play there. Even if the season is long, it won't provide the right platform for Fred and McTominay, if they sign Mac Allister and Caicedo."

Amad Diallo plan

Ten Hag is open to including Amad Diallo in his United squad next season following an excellent loan spell at Sunderland, according to the Manchester Evening News.

The 20-year-old has spearheaded the Black Cats' Championship play-off push this term, having scored 12 times in 33 appearances in total. He struggled for regular game time at the start of his season-long loan stint, before earning a sustained run in the team - and impressing in that time.

United and Ten Hag are pleased with Amad's development and see him as a potential first-team member next season, having previously suggested he required a "run of 10 starts" to showcase his qualities.

Amad is likely to be named in United's squad for their pre-season tour of the United States of America in July. The Red Devils are also planning to have two friendlies before the trip to North America.
