Man Utd target Victor Osimhen responds to question on his future after Napoli title triumph

Napoli striker Victor Osimhen insisted it was "not the right time" to talk about his future after he helped Napoli win their first Serie A title in 33 years.

The Nigerian frontman was on target as Napoli drew 1-1 with Udinese on Thursday night, which was enough to see them crowned league champions. Osimhen - who is a summer transfer target for Manchester United and Erik ten Hag - scored the equaliser after Luciano Spalletti's men went a goal down in the first half.

Although the league-leaders were unable to find a winner, it ultimately didn't matter as they ended the long wait for the Scudetto. It is the first time they have triumphed since the late Diego Maradona led them to two titles in 1986/87 and 1989/90.

Napoli have lost just three times all season and currently have an unassailable 16-point lead with just five games remaining. Osimhen, meanwhile, bagged his 22nd league goal in the draw. After the game, he was quizzed on his future amid interest from the Reds, but refused to speak about the next step in his career.

"I’m thrilled with this victory," he told Sky. "I’m happy for me, for the team and for the fans. I can’t wait to come back in Naples to embrace our fans, even though tonight I already felt the warmth of the people. I’m happy for all the Neapolitans. I scored the Scudetto goal, it’s true, but anyone else could have scored it.

"I feel like a leader and I never give up. Future? Now I want to enjoy this historic moment, this is not the time to think about my future. Spalletti is a great coach, he asks us a lot but he is like a father to all of us. He always manages to motivate us and he deserves this title."

MEN Sport understands Harry Kane is Ten Hag's prime striker target to reinforce the Reds' attack in the summer, with the Dutchman intent on signing the England captain as he approaches the final year of his contract. However, Napoli ace Osimhen also remains of interest to United.

Osimhen has enjoyed a prolific season in front of goal for Napoli. The striker has registered 27 goals and five assists in all competitions for Spalletti's side.
