Manchester United are planning to appoint a deputy football director to work closely with transfer chief John Murtough.
Those within United's boardroom are thought to be keen on revolutionising the way the club is run in a move that sees Murtough currently brunt an overwhelming amount of responsibility, following his recent promotion from head of football development to football director.
As a result, United are planning to reduce his workload by providing him with an assistant to help oversee things and give the likes of technical director Darren Fletcher someone else to answer to, as per The Athletic.
The search for that person has already begun and is currently at the interview stage as the Red Devils look on at rivals Liverpool and try to emulate their set-up.

Things over in the red half of Merseyside have been going ludicrously well compared to United in recent years and that is partly down to their influence of sporting director Michael Edwards.
The transfer guru is on his way out of Anfield after a decade at the club but has already confirmed that his right-hand man Julian Ward will take over in his place to ensure a seamless transition.
While it is unclear when exactly United can bring in someone to deputise for Murtough, the club will want it done sooner rather than later as the summer transfer window begins to edge closer.
This summer is likely to mark one of transition for the United boardroom as current interim manager Ralf Rangnick is expected to end his reign in the dugout and move into a two-year consultancy role.
In turn, a new manager will need to be appointed and United have already whittled down their shortlist to a select few candidates.
Paris Saint-Germain boss Mauricio Pochettino is thought to be one, while Ajax manager Erik Ten Hag is highly thought of by Rangnick.
Luis Enrique is an outside runner but is unlikely to relinquish his role with the Spanish national team.
A number of notable players are also expected to call time on their Old Trafford stays in the form of Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard and Edinson Cavani.
All three are out of contract come the end of the current campaign and are expected to seek a new challenge elsewhere.
This means Murtough may have quite the task on his hands trying to find three new additions in the summer and will require a deputy football director to help the transfer process along
United's season has drastically underwhelmed and talk of a title tilt in the summer has now been replaced by fears that the club may not even qualify for the Champions League.
Rangnick's men currently languish as low as fifth just one point ahead of top four rivals Arsenal despite playing two games more than the Gunners.
