Manchester United have already decided not to appeal Casemiro's sending off against Southampton, with the midfielder set to miss their next four games.
The Brazilian was shown a straight red card by referee Anthony Taylor 11 minutes before the break in the goalless draw with the Saints. His overzealous tackle on Carlos Alcaraz had been adjudged to be a yellow card offence on first viewing.
But VAR Andre Marriner called Taylor to the pitchside monitor and the card was changed to a red one. It was Casemiro's second sending off in three Premier League games and marks a huge blow to their hopes of turning around their recent poor form.
But according to the Manchester Evening News, United boss Erik ten Hag had no issue with the decision. He shook Taylor's hand on the pitch at full-time, with the Red Devils already deciding against appealing Casemiro's suspension.
The Brazilian will now miss the FA Cup quarter-final against Fulham, the Premier League trip to Newcastle, the visit of Brentford and the clash with Everton. In total, he will have been suspended for eight games since the turn of the year.
Casemiro was consoled by Antony, Lisandro Martinez and Southampton striker Che Adams as he left the pitch, as well as sharing an embrace with Alcaraz. United were able to hold on to a point in what was a thrilling game, but keeper David de Gea insisted Casemiro had been "unlucky".
HAVE YOUR SAY! Did Casemiro deserve to be sent off against Southampton? Comment below.
"I think Casemiro was unlucky. He tried to touch the ball and his foot came up high. I think the referees need to show more consistency. Sometimes they show a red card and sometimes they don't," he told Sky Sports.
"It's going to be tough, he's a big player. We will miss him for four games but we have a big squad. We have players coming from the bench who do well. We will keep working hard.
"It should be a game to win today but the game changed when we lost a man in the team. We tried our best to score but it was difficult. They had some chances but in the end we showed good team spirit. We have to take the point and keep going."
The point leaves United third in the Premier League table, with Ten Hag's hopes of joining the title race all but extinguished. They are 16 points behind leaders Arsenal, though with an eight-point advantage over fifth-placed Liverpool, they are safe in the top four.
Casemiro will still be available to play in the Europa League, with the second leg against Real Betis coming this week. But Marcel Sabitzer, Fred and Scott McTominay will be among those battling to take his spot in domestic competition.
