Man United star Lisandro Martinez's take on Cristiano Ronaldo drama ahead of huge Chelsea clash

Manchester United's 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur was overshadowed by an incident involving Cristiano Ronaldo. United became only the second team to defeat Antonio Conte's side this season, with Ronaldo an unused substitute in the game at Old Trafford.

As the game ticked towards the 90-minute mark, Ronaldo walked down the tunnel, even though the match was still going on. United boss Erik ten Hag was questioned on Ronaldo's actions and claimed that he would deal with the issue.

"I've seen him," said ten Hag. "I didn't speak to him after. I'll deal with that tomorrow." The performance against Spurs was arguably United's best of the season, but Ronaldo is dominating the headlines for all the wrong reasons.

United centre-back Lisandro Martinez copied ten Hag in playing down the Ronaldo incident. The Argentina international claimed that he didn't see Ronaldo walk down the tunnel and after the match was too busy celebrating with his team mates.

"I didn't see anything," explained the defender. "I don't know. I only enjoy with the people, we won, and that's important."

Even so, it's hardly ideal preparation for United, who face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday in a huge clash in west London. Just a single point separates the two sides after 10 matches, with Chelsea just the right side of the dotted line which separates the top four from the rest of the league.

It remains to be seen what action - if any - is taken against Ronaldo, who was linked with a move to Chelsea during the summer. The Portuguese has barely featured in the Premier League under ten Hag, starting just two games this season - both of which United have failed to win, or even score in.
